1947 was the last year that Harley-Davidson used what later came to be known as the "knucklehead" engine. The following year, they switched to the Panhead engine, changing the look and character of the motorcycle.
The current owner bought this machine as complete, but 80% assembled restoration from a good friend in Montreal. He finished the assembly soon after receiving the machine, fired the bike up and then storage-prepped it for display in his collection.
While the machine is not restored to 100% original, it was built to a high standard using high-quality components and features upgrades like the 12V ignition/charging system. The motor & transmission were completely rebuilt by HDR Performance in Montreal, Quebec and new barrels taken out to 74cu in were fitted.
